RIS Meets Aerodynamic HAPS: A Multi-Objective Optimization Approach

In this letter, we propose a novel network architecture for integrating terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) to establish connection between ground stations which are unconnected due blockage. We new framework where reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is mounted on an aerodynamic high altitude platform station (HAPS), referred as HAPS-RIS. This can be one of the promising candidates among RIS (NT-RIS) platforms. formulate mathematical model cascade channel gain time-varying effects based predictable mobility multi-objective optimization problem designing phase shifts maximize while forcing Doppler spread zero, minimizing delay upper bound. Considering reference element, find closed-form solution Pareto optimality aforementioned objective functions. Finally, evaluate show effective performance our proposed through numerical simulations.
